What exactly is Vitiligo?

Vitiligo is a skin disorder where white patches of skin appear on different parts of the body. It is a chronic condition where not only the skin gets affected but also the hair that is present in the affected area also turns white. People of all skin types are affected by vitiligo but it is visible more in people with dark complexion.

It commonly attacks areas like face, neck, hands, scalp, skin folds, and mouth and inside the mouth. In rare cases, it also affects the whole body. Even though vitiligo is not a serious condition and is also not contagious, but it can affect individuals physically as well as mentally. Most of the people suffering from vitiligo feel depressed and overly stressed due to their looks.
